Ok, here’s another blog.
I don’t have anything witty to say, and I think enough people have already lamented the current state of “our” country after the elections, and where it may or may not be headed in a basket often carried in one hand.
So what is good? Well, I’ve started watching some TV lately – ok, just Drawn Together really. Its pretty fucking hilarious, although mildly stomach wrenching at points. Although I, for some strange reason, have have a weak stomach, so it might not bother you. Ling Ling is the shit. Especially the little dance & song he does at the end of the episode where he fights the giant asian robot. Gotta get me a sound clip of that.
Music…not much new lately, picked up the 2nd and 3rd Son Volt albums down at Amoeba for $8 each used, not a bad deal. Very mellow. Not as good as the first one, not as good as Uncle Tupelo, but decent, and good for what they are. Not so much “alternative country” out there in general. Also heard the new U2 album last week or so…eh…if you like U2 you’ll probably like it, if you don’t, you won’t. The new Mos Def album is pretty good, I think it was “reviewed” higher than the first one, but IMHO the first was stronger. Bought the newest Tiger Army album whenever it came out…very disappointing. Much less balls than the previous two albums – which kicked some serious mutha’ fuckin’ housewife ass. Also, due to the production or mixing style, the cliche nature of the lyrics really shines through. The lyrics were always cliche and overly thematic, but the music and melody was strong enough to carry the songs – now…well, the lyrics are what really stands out and they are not TA’s strong point.
What else..haven’t seen any movies…or read any books. Just reading Cosmic Trigger III again…I re-read most of RAW’s books every year or two. Always rewarding.
