California day 3 & 4 – Santa Cruz
After that we headed out to visited Beth, Josh & Ezra in the magically magical town of Santa Cruz. Well, on the University grounds at least. Man do they make parking there a royal pain in the opening near the base of my buttocks. Like a tiny, biting tick I say!
I’d post pictures but that would take even more time, so maybe later, or maybe not.
We checked out Josh’s current place of work, which involved many butterflies. Seriously. I don’t want to say any more, because the more I say the more your imagination is limited.
Good fun was had by all, and we saw a dead bird. Oh, and Beth almost fell out of a tree 4 feet off the ground.
Random observations:
- They don’t say “jamba” in the Jamba Juices in Warm Springs, or Santa Cruz either – maybe it’s just a northwest thing?
- There was no cheddar (what the fuck!?!?) or spinach (more understandable, it’s relatively new to ours) in the Santa Cruz Subway. They do seem to like their provalone though. I don’t think we have that.
- There are apparently no Monterey Jack Cheeze-Its in California. For shame! For I did not know unto such joy yea until I was exposed in the basketure of accidental sale purchase forthwith unto was delivered unto us a cracker savior (no I don’t mean a white jesus!) with unto which therefor was said “This shit is good.” Snackalicious.
I think we’ve decided that we’re going to split the trips up into 2 separate ones next year, although hell if I know how that’s going to work or how we’re going to afford it. It was just too much running around and driving.

I didn’t KNOW it was four feet off the ground, JERK. Hey, um, did anything FUN happen in Santa Cruz?!? Hhrrmph.
Hmmm.fun fun fun…I seem to recall doing a lot of Meth..oh wait, that was Fresno wasn’t it? Man, what happened to Santa Cruz?
Yes. The drugs were pretty fun.
i can’t believe you guys did all this in one trip…you crazy! when we go down for a visit, we tell everyone to come and see us, in one location all at once and then we don’t miss anyone….but, we’re perfect soo..
That’s an unfair generalization. We certainly have Monterrey Jack Cheez-Its in Southern California, alng with White Cheddar and Parmesan.
I suppose it truly is “The Promised Land.” Get envious.
mmmmm-no thanks.
Re: Meg
I wish people would just come to us!
The joys of divorced & scattered families I guess. Jen’s fam is/was all in Northern C, and mine is in Southern, so we’ve got at least 2 stops no matter what. I think we’re going to try for 2 trips next year, but we’ll see.
Re: Brian
Parmesan huh? We don’t have that, so I’m just going to say they’re nasty. We do have the White Cheddar and those are pretty meh.
