I’m never really sure how to blog about family things, because there’s the whole public/private magic that goes on with the inter-world, but I’ll do my best.

We had family in for the weekend, and that was groovy. Jen’s sister (Bethany), sister’s husband (commentmachine) and 3 year old (E) were in town. We cavorted around our place in the rain – because it’s always raining here when you want to do something, then eventually made it out for a semi-tour with stops at the downtown mall (sorry I never remember the name) and eventually Thai food for dinner. Along the way we drove around checking out various large houses I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford (but you never know….), driving slowly through some ritzy parts of town.

Portland does indeed have some very neat houses, and a rather noticeable – or so I’ve been told (I guess if you notice that kind of thing) mismatchjumble of home construction styles. And this is a good thing, helps things to look less homogeneous without looking ramshackle and stupid.

Oh, and Z had his 1st sticky rice. He seemed to really like it. Much more than beef. Yes, that’s rice on my finger above, not maggots you sickos!

In closing, here’s E doing his impression of a bunch of late 90s low-budget horror flics:

Ya’ll come back soon!  Or maybe we’ll make it back down there.
