BSG series finale

Well. It mostly didn’t suck.

Spoiler filled comments after the jump.

Random bits:

  • There was no resolution to the Helo fucking Boomer thing – other than Athena killing her – which I don’t think qualifies, because it doesn’t resolve what should have been a serious emotional conflict between them.
  • I’m not even sure why Boomer had to die in that manner…I mean I get that it’s run by a Mormon, and everyone who isn’t an angel but did horrible things has to die – but did the way she went out really complete her arc?  I get her situation more or less – I’m just not sure allowing herself to be ended by an outside force really does anything other than enforce her role “the puppet” – not being in control of her own destiny and all.  I’d think that some kind of actual suicide, or “going down with the ship” or something would have been better if they needed her to die.
  • I’m glad the Athena/Helo/Hera family unit is intact – it’s the only one!
  • Don’t care about Roslyn dieing.  Wonder if the collagen decomposes before or after the skin.

Stuff that doesn’t make sense/poorly thought out:

  • Hera as the common female ancestor doesn’t make any sense at all.  Or at least I don’t think it does – doesn’t that mean that none of the other survivors had daughters that had children?  Or something like that?
  • Those remaining people aren’t going to fight each other to the death over the remaining raptors so they can blow each other up more?  Yeah, right.
  • Don’t they realize that there are predators there? LIONS BITCHES!  No wonder everone but Hera died.  She probably got adopted by some African tribe that knew their shit and didn’t try to pet no lions.

Stuff that was just MEH:

  • The god angle.
  • The robot-danger-will-robinson warning bit.  I mean, yeah ok, we get it – but if we haven’t learned this lesson from the other billion words of robot sci-fi that’s out there, why would we listen to you?
  • Starbuck.  Really?? I mean, we could see it coming- but still.  The moment itself was well done, but dumb.
  • Adama Sr. would leave his son to go die alone?  He wouldn’t want to be around family?  REALLY???  Same thing with Jr. – he just wants to climb some mountains and die alone? W T F.

Stuff that was horrendously lame:

  • The whole scene with the cylon compromise-oops-no-we-get-to-kill-you-all-anyway.  That was dumbsauce enough to choke a Rhox.  Here I was, thinking they had the balls to end the series in that “heavy grey area” where it’s lived so long – then they just blow it all up from Stupidcity to Dumpshitlingshire.

Something to think on:

EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED TO THE INDIANS IN NORTH AMERICA.  EXCEPT WITH AFRICANS THIS TIME.
