The message board was taken over by standard sneaky porn-spam bots, but the twitter one was similar to yours- I mentioned some band, then someone followed me and was like "I like ______ to! Great band! [link]" The link was some innocuous seeming thing that didn't look like a typical malware site. I looked at the "person's" twitter page and there were just hundred of identical messages with different bands subbed in. Spam is getting weirder and weirder. I’ve been getting these a lot lately too- on twitter and this messageboard I admin.
