I really was trying to humor Millar this time. But Hulk & She-Hulk fucking is just too obnoxious for words – how did this get through editorial? Isn’t this bullshit what his creator owned books are for?

re: Dark X-Men : The Beginning 3:

Once upon a time, a great creative team made Jean Grey interesting as the Phoenix, then killed her, ending that arc wonderfully. Then Marvel thought it would be fun to do again, and again, and again. Each time it is less interesting, and more likely to make me not buy whatever book is involved in it.

Once upon a time, a great creative team (or three) brought Emma Frost through a wonderful character arc, ending in marriage to Cyclops, after various struggles with non-heroic tendencies. Now, Marvel appears to be starting that cycle over. And each time I see this arc continued, I’m less and less likely to want to buy issues with her in it.

Oh, I also find it hilarious that the one person to get the best of Norman Osborn so far is Aurora. Aurora. WIN.

Blackest Night: Titans 01 – I’m sensing a pattern of bringing back un”valuable” characters only to kill them and resurrect them as Black Lanterns (Hawkman/woman, Aqualad guy, and now Hawk) in a vain attempt to ratchet up the drama. *Yawn*

X-Force 18 : Wow, armless huh? That’s pretty graphic, even for an x-book. I am pleased that all the almost-dead ex-New Mutants/X-kids from this issue are still alive though. Kind of a miracle there. And Necrosha is ticking away in the background… not horrible, not great, but decent.

New Mutants 4: Not stellar, but getting better at least (Sunspot coming on to Amara though?? Aren’t they all like brothers & sisters by now?). I fail to see why Sam would try and send Dani away though – they’ve been through enough that he would know better. Besides, Legion was obviously after her for one reason or another, and he can probably teleport….sooo…yeah.

Dark Wolverine 77: Yes, the “dark”-ness is dumb, but whatever. They’re at least going out of their way to make Daken a character in his own right, which I do appreciate. Not really my thing though. Sadly I’m hooked into Marvel to follow certain characters, most of the new ones (especially Wolverine clones) just don’t do it for me.

Justice League of America 36: Wow, when has Vixen looked this ugly? These issues just feel like filler to me, or like it should be a separate series or something. Look, I’m not knocking Len Wein…but the story he’s writing does not feel like a good fit for the current run of this book at all. Plus, the art is periodically horrible.

Wolverine Origins 39: Ok but, umm, Romulus’ 4th claw is really dumb, not to mention impractical and useless (looking). Sorry Rommy, you have the least cool claws, goodbye!

Wonder Woman 35: Uh, this is the first “good” issue of Wonder Woman I can recall flipping through. The whole arena/fight club bit is kind of silly but the Pele/whatshisname/Wonder Woman alliance arc is actually really interesting.

Dark Avengers 08: Decently interesting, mostly because it focuses on the X-Men. Hah! So I guess Emma wasn’t a traitor…this may counter my comment on Dark X-Men above, we’ll see. I didn’t see Xavier in the pile of people rescued though, interesting. Is this the first step in the Cabal’s breakup (finally!) with the only two ostensibly “good” characters defecting back to the angels? It couldn’t be soon enough.

Avengers Initiative 27: Stellar story here. It really shines in how much is crammed into one issue without making anything feel rushed. Reading the first “section” I was like “arrghhh is this gonna be the whole issue?” But then, it wasn’t, and it worked just fine for what it was. Not to mention that they quoted my favorite Petty song AND a classic Springsteen song…big points there. The (non-Dark) Avengers books continue to swing for the bleachers.

Woah. All four “Hulk” titles came out today. … Little bit odd there Marvel shipping folks.

Hulk 14: If only I wasn’t so morbidly fascinated with waiting for this train wreck to end…yes I keep tuning in, no it doesn’t suck yet. Nevermind that you get Domino acting horribly out of character, quailing and getting all obsequious towards RapingHulk, or Wolverine telling X-Force to “Kill everyone” (including Electra, whom he just saved, and the Punisher, with whom he’s worked before). Wait, no on second thought don’t forget either of those things – they’re just more examples of a what an ignorant writer Loeb is.

Son of Hulk 14: I still don’t get how this other kid is a Hulkchild too. I mean, Caiera wasn’t even pregnant with him. Huh?

Incredible Hercules 133: The origin of Amadeus Cho commences. A little slower than the previous year or so of stories, but hey it’s only the start. This is one book I’m torn about not buying every time I see it. Bottom line, Pak is just a damn good writer.

So good in fact that two titles he wrote came out today! Incredible Hulk 601 was also pretty decent. We get to see Bruce using his brain (I wonder where he ranks in the “smartest person on Earth” thing that Amadeus is #7 on…I mean Richards must be in the top 3, Doom and Pym probably up there too…), which is nice for a change. He says flat out that the Hulk will be back eventually (which makes me think, maybe not for a while :P), and now he’s helping his “son” train to kill the Hulk/him. If only he could kill the Raping Hulk instead… well, there’s another big Hulk-over coming in a few months, so I have a feeling he’ll be back for that. Who knows though, Pak’s got balls, so a Hulk-less Hulk-over… I wouldn’t put it past him. Besides, they just imported a 2nd She-Hulk, and there’s a third (red…) one coming in another month or two. Not to mention A-Bomb & Hulk’s 2 (!?) kids…so there’s Hulk-oids aplenty, we can get by without old green skin for a while.

Hulk 600 was indeed, horrible. Mind-blowingly so. Jeph Loeb may be the Greg Land of writing. Harsh, I know. It’s not a completely accurate comparison, as he doesn’t exactly “trace” his plots – I suspect he uses the Burroughs cut-up technique, albeit unintentionally and in a complete art-fail. I suspect he has a pile of notecards on his desk with ideas he had when he was 7: “Hulk punches Jesus”, “Hulk turns Red”, “dog explodes in shower in magazines”, “Hulk flies”, “Hulk teleports”, “Dr. Jekyll cameo”, “Hulk uses giant gun to shoot guy he could beat up without gun”, “girl cries about Bosnia”, “Hulk hides in the shadows of parking garage a la Deep Throat”…really I couldn’t even imagine. But he just shuffles those up and “writes” them how they fall. That’s what it feels like anyway.

He’ll probably feel horrible when he reads that I know, maybe he’ll retire from comics forever, eyes full of tears? Alas, but we can dream.

Seriously. There was no angle under which the lead story in this book made sense. Especially not for a “600th” issue (ignoring all the Hulk #ing madness). Sure, sure, wait and see Marvel says, it will make sense later – who the fuck cares when you’re expected to pay for something NOW? Not that I did – not worth $1 let alone $5. Spider-Man 600, while written pretty poorly, was a better example of how a 600th issue should – Thor & Captain America even moreso.

Oh right, the actual plot. Umm. It was hard to find. People acted totally out of character, people appeared out of nowhere, and continuity was anally and orally raped in ways only the Rapist Hulk (“Rulk” for short) can. Like, when did this take place, just for starters? At first I thought it was right after WWH, because then the Banner without powers might make sense…but, um.. no. It … happened in “comic time” in the truest sense of the word – absolutely nowhen, yet the reader is expected to somehow make sense of everything anyway. I hear Pak is coming back on 601 – wow will that be like night and day. If only he could abandon all this Rapist Hulk bullshit, but no, I’m sure he’s gotta run with it. ARRGGHHH. Oh, and in addition to a new Hulk, there’s a new She-Hulk coming soon too. Not that we didn’t just get a 2nd She-Hulk.

Oh sweet Hulk-Jesus, when will it end?

Look, Marvel, I know you love the taste of Loeb’s junk, or something, or maybe you think he’s cool because he’s got Hollywood connections. Look, here’s the thing, it’s a LOT EASIER TO BE A SHITTY WRITER IN HOLLYWOOD than it is in comics. In Hollywood you have “writing teams” who can take all your fucking idiotic ideas and turn them into something more palatable – this is not happening with Hulk. Do that.

No, I did not buy this comic. Although then I would have been able to burn it. I may still do that, maybe that will release the demons.

OH. Oh. Here’s some random Loeb Logic for you: a team made up of people who wear red. The trick here is that they were ALREADY WEARING RED – it’s not a team dress code or anything! Wow Jeph I heart your brainhole! Oh wait, the Punisher is wearing black. Ohh, even his fail logic has inherent fail. W T>.ARGH F. Please stop, you make my brain die. Besides, he already established that RapingHulk can beat up anything and everything, why would he need a team including a guy who just has a gun. ARREDPDR *POPSPLODE*

OK.

I’m not usually one to get all fanboyish about this superhero vs. that one, but this issue was really, really stupid.

Wait, I meant typical Loeb. Sorry. Same thing. (Since when does magic give a fuck about gravity?????)

We’re playing an overly exaggerated version of “this guy is so badass he could beat up Superman …so how is our hero <insert lame ass hero here> going to beat him??”.

Not to mention that we still don’t really have a clear transition from WWH to this drivel…I thought all the gamma was gone out of Bruce, but now it’s back? And it brought enough friendly gamma to super charge ?Doc Samson? AND Rick whatshisname? Or is Rick running on Abomination’s powers…whatever..either way I’m less than impressed.

To go from Planet Hulk->World War Hulk->This = comical.

Final Crisis 2 – I’m sure there’s a reason one of the evil gods is the spitting image of Al Sharpton. I like the writing in what Morrison is doing here, but much of the rest of the DC world feels “off”. I think maybe he’s not meant to write mainstream books…everything he does has such an obivous “not mainstream” feel to it. If that means anything. Storywise…it’s interesting.

Not nearly as good as Secret Invasion has been so far though…

New Avengers 42 – Great read here, filling us in on how Jessica got swapped and *gasp* what did the Skrulls have to do with House of M?? Were they just caught up in it like everyone else…we don’t know that yet. I guess we’ll have to wait until 43. I’m still confused by the Skrulls being able to access their normal personalities, I thought somewhere they had said all that was subsumed in the host identity.

Hulk 04 – Stupid, stupid and more stupid. They’re doing the standard “build the bad guy up to be soooo bad that the good guy can’t possibly win. Until he does.” routine that it hurts me just to read it. And now next month R-ulk gets to beat down Thor? Mmmmm kay. Jeff/ph Loeb, I can’t stand your writing. Please stop. Maybe go to work for Stuff or Redbook or something yes?

Fantastic Four 558 – A little better and more interesting than previous issues – but do we really need another Hulk?

Trinity 04 – Meh.

X-Factor 32 – EEeeennnteresting. So we’re finally out of mutant town and on to the next thing. Which is…? I’m actually rather annoyed that he brought Val Cooper back in in the way he did on that last page – this is probably the first thing that has pissed me off about his run. But it’s nothing serious. Can’t wait to see where this is headed.

Mighty Avengers 15 – Not quite as cool as as the new “New”, but still interesting. Here we find out when Hank Pym got swapped, and some of what he/she was up to. It looks like the original is dead, but I’m calling TINY odds on that being the case. I’m sure everyone is stored nicely in glass tubes somewhere to be released in the penultimate issue.

New Warriors 13 – This is all over the place. I have no idea why they went after Machinesmith “for real”…but at least it looks like it’s building to something, and I do so enjoy plot that actually builds. Hope it’s worth the wait.

Teen Titans 60 – I’m really sad about the ending to this one. And I HATE the way Kid Devil was drawn in this issue. He looked like a gaunt old hippy. Sort of like kid clockking whatever. All in all though, TT has been decent lately. I hope Ravager completes her little heroic loop journey and makes her way back…the pining/drama/etc. from Kid D is killing me.

Superman 677 – Bad guys calls out good guy. I get it. I think I’ve seen it before.

Young Avengers/Runaways – Secret Invasion – The art was horrible, but the story fairly interesting. I’d like it at least 3 times more if it wasn’t stupid anime crap looking. I guess part of the Whedon Runaways arc is spoiled, or did it end and I just missed it?

Young Avengers Presents 6 – This was a cute story. I never see how the Hawkeyes of the world get by in super-adaptoid & Skrull armada world…but they do.

New Exiles 05

Don’t be tricked by the Alan Davis cover!

Oh my god! The pencils…stabbing my eyes out…alternating between anime knock off and horrible Davis knock off. I’m sorry Roberto Castro, but if you can’t even stick to one style to knock-off, please don’t try. You’re going to give me an ugliness seizure. I really hate singling out individuals and calling their work bad – but this stuff is painfully irregular. The script isn’t particularly strong, but it would be fine with serviceable pencils. Since it doesn’t have those, the book sucks.

Death of the New Gods 08

Talk about talking heads! But that’s ok I guess. What I think was really shoddy was how the “character” of Orion changed so much btw. this and Countdown 2…he can’t talk at all then suddenly he can yell prophecies.

Superman-as-Jimmy-Olsen was kind of amusing, but overall I think this issue just fell really flat. Having the finale blunted/broken by Countdown 2 didn’t help things much either. The whole continuity jar-up is really annoying (Orion DID die…and Darkseid knew the Source had resurrected his “spirit” already…except that was the real Orion and not just a spirit. DUM dah DUM DUM D-U-M-B) and seems like it could have been fixed too, but whatever.

Justice League of America 20

Wow, if this wasn’t a phone-it-in-issue I don’t know what was. Maybe I’m just not a fan of done-in-ones because the seem so out of pointless – as this issue certainly does – or maybe this one in particular just sucks. The pencils are pretty middling too (not as bad as New Exiles above), which doesn’t help. Not to say that they are bad, but nothing “pops”. All the red coloring in the first section is really boring too – even though it’s a fire scene it doesn’t have to be so damn RED! (Leave that up to the new Hulk please). The panel of the side of Wonder Woman’s face on page 12 or so, bottom right is fucking fearsome.

Here, I’ll save you from buying/browsing this painful issue. See obvious pic at right. What the hell is that? She looks like a devil mannequin from the 14th layer of hell. You’ll know it when you see it. Scary isn’t it?

Hulk 03

This one went too fast. I don’t think I’ve ever been a fan of Loeb’s writing, but I didn’t find this one particularly bad, just strangely paced – it felt like it only took me 2 minutes to read it.

Secrets are closer to being revealed, but nothing yet.

Oh, well Banner is back to dumbass Hulk again. Yeah, that’s awesome. After Pak spends so long building us a wonderful new Hulk incarnation, we’re back to dumbass Hulk. I’m sure there’s a good reason for it, but there’s a reason I’ll buy Pak’s Hulk hardcovers and won’t touch this (or anything Loeb writes really) with a 14.3 foot pole.

Uncanny X-Men 497

This arc’s not bad, it’s a decent diversion. Nothing to get excited about though, at least not yet. I’m not digging the plastic-y looking pencils. Hmm…maybe it’s the coloring I don’t like? I’m not “artsy” enough to be able to tell – basically, everything just looks like it’s coated in a layer of plastic and slightly muddied up.

Young Avengers Presents 04

Some cute character work here, but it’s been so long since I saw them in action I don’t remember Vision’s story. Going to have to re-read some trades I guess. Pencils weren’t bad here :).

Thor 08

The whole package here – great writing, a bit of violence, and beautiful pencils and colors. I’m really liking the JMS take on Thor, just like I liked his take on Spider-Man (it was the only one I’ve really liked since I started reading comics and now, unfortunately, it’s all wiped away. So it goes.).

Ultimate Fantastic Four 53

I’m loving Tyler Kirkham’s pencils and the green hair. Carey’s plot is pretty decent, almost old school, ff-stylings. I’m wondering if he wiped the other heroes memories…because they were killing a loootttt of people.

Mighty Avengers 12

Since Avengers members only appear in scattered panels, I’d call this more of a Marvel Spotlight on Nick Fury/Secret War, and not “Avengers” so much, but hey it’s all Bendis so it’s a mesh anyway right?

We find out how Fury found out, and get a little tie-back into that Secret War thing from a few years back, not to mention get left with what is supposed to (I think) be a nasty cliffhanger – but I suspect it’s mostly red herrings. No way Wolverine & Spider-Man are Skrulls, sorry, that would be too stupid and really, really not make any sense. Lockjaw I buy…hmm…ok wait, flip it. Maybe the faces that are circled are the ones he knows are not Skrulls. That I buy. Still, Lockjaw. I miss that guy (remember, he’s actually an Inhuman, not a dog!).

I’m not buying Spider-Woman as cool or interesting though, sorry Bendis. Maybe with a new name or something that makes sense for her powers. The costume + flying & energy blasts + name is just too much cognitive dissonance for me I guess.

Uncanny X-Men 494

And don’t forget “Baaaaad Bishop, no donut!”

We find out why one of the alternate futures is important (but not the other, still nothing from it yet? I wonder if it’s Cable’s future? That’s my guess anyway).

Lots of talking, and more whining about Caliban again, who really should have known better. Some characters stand around, sometimes very large in a panel, and say nothing (I’m looking at you Iceman! I see you playing Tetris on that terminal!).

There’s also the opening fight scene, which makes you wonder if people forgot about Bishop’s powers. I mean, I guess they explain why having Sunfire unload on him doesn’t kill him…but, he can blast back you know. The guns are superfluos when he has real ammo…

Hey, where is Colossus anyway? I lost track. Nightcrawler & Cannonball are injured at least, I know that. Kitty Pryde? Where’s she? Making out with Colossus? I don’t see either of them in the team shot, and I don’t think they turn up in X-Factor (see below) either. I’ll just assume they’re in the hospital or something for now.

This issue was kind of meh in general. Well, ok not meh, it was filler. It was strong filler though!

X-Factor 27

Lots of things happen here. Or at least lots of pieces move into place for things to happen.

One very important player “dies” off camera.

One dies on camera, but it’s ok, he was just a dupe.

One is left in a very sad place…in such a way that you almost thing Peter David saw this silly crossover coming 27 issues ago and PLANNED for that shit (now the marriage makes sense, DOESN’T IT? ;) )

The plot device (or “plot-culling” device) that is Predator X finally shows up…and based by the baby X-Men’s survival rate so far, I’m worried about them. It’s much easier to kill off a new character than an old…and frankly I like most of these new characters better than some old ones. Gambit? Ready for him to go. Cyclops? Well, he’s finally getting some balls, so give him time. Iceman? No, I love Iceman, keep him around. Wolverine? Been there, done that. Besides, isn’t he an Avenger now? Let’s kick him out of the X-books entirely. Mystique? She had her chance at redemption (see X-Men Forever)…I’m almost tired of her, but somehow her insanely predictable turncoat-ed-ness is starting to grow on me, so maybe keep her around. Angel? I actually liked him better with the healing blood and alternate Soulsword. Seriously, at least then there was some excuse as to why he wasn’t dead 10 seconds into every fight. That was one change that didn’t need to be retconned (just like the metal wings…also good!).

We find out more or less exactly how Bishop & Cable’s future’s figure into current X-Men cannon – it’s not stated explicitly that Cable’s is the other extant future, but I suspect it is. Otherwise why bother with all this and shoehorning Bishop’s future in? It’s actually a pretty neat writing trick if this is the way they go, and I hope it is. One is from bad Baby’s future, and one is from good Baby’s future, or that’s how it looks so far. It would be more interesting I guess if they were actually just from different points in the same future (and future #2 with the other Madrox is something else)…and that by Cable’s timeline Baby’s actions have come to be viewed in a positive light or something.

Great issue overall. Lot’s of good stuff happens, and lot’s of stuff is set up to fall down.

Mighty Avengers 7

I’m just waiting for it to get to issue 9 or 10 or so when it catches up to New.

But I’m enjoying the wait. Bendis is, as almost always, entertaining. We get some more of what I suspect to be Skrullation clues, and the intro to what might be a right-nasty disaster (except that we already know how it winds up *sort of* from an issue or two ago of New), and some great character moments.

Also, Janet trots out a parade of new outfits for someone! Man, remember when she used to always change her costumes? That got annoying didn’t it. I actually liked it when she was part bug, I thought that looked cool. And it would be hard for her to costume over stuff like that…. Anyway, she tries to pull a Queer-Eye on Wonder-Man – but I thought those costumes she trotted out were just nasty-silly-70s-retro. But I guess she showed that same set to Cage before, so maybe that makes sense…

Anyway, here’s my guess on the Skrull-in-team thing: Either Black Widow or Wasp. Sentry’s wife being one is just too obvious. I mean, she was dead 10 pages before then not dead? That’s fast, even for Marvel. I don’t think they’d give us that blatant of a clue yet, so I suspect there’s something entirely different going on – did he hallucinate her death? Why has no one else mentioned that she died? Did they just not find out? Probably I guess. So yeah, Black Widow & Wasp. Powers not that hard to dupe, neither of them been involved in anything too interesting in the last 10 years or so, neither of them particularly interesting now. Hell, I’ve always just been mildly amused by the Black Widow. Really? Up there with Thor & Iron Man? Even Wasp has powers…she’s just got that stupid dart gun and some soviet training.

I was thinking there might be a clue with who does and doesn’t have thought bubbles, but that seems to vary by issue. I suppose Wonder Man could pretty easily be a Skrull too. I’m going to say that would also be “too easy” though and put him on the back burner. But I wouldn’t be surprised at all. Ares? No. Seriously, no. Sentry? Going to say no, with all the craziness & power and all. Hulk would have squashed the Skrull out of him. Iron Man? Nope. That much is obvious. Spider-Woman? Now THAT would be a kick. I’d applaud that, but I doubt it.

Exiles: Days of Then and Now

Although I’m seriously tired of the “Days of Noun Verb” and “Days of whatever yada yada” headlines, this was a pretty good Exiles one-shot. I’m not sure where the hell it falls continuity wise (between 99 and 100??), but that’s not too much of an issue – except that the Exxies have never been shown acting this way before – but hey, it’s comicland!

All in all, worth picking up. Definitely better than Die by the Sword. Whatever that was.

Thunderbolts 118

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Warren Ellis (man……Nextwave..Nextwave..NextWAVE!), and this title is very well written, and the story is fairly interesting….BUT I miss my old “new” Thunderbolts. I miss the progress Moonstone was making, now she’s just stupid and petty again. Ellis does love petty characters….especially stuck up petty women. He’s good at making them interesting, or at least interesting to read, too. BUT, I’d rather he didn’t do it to characters who writers had spent years moving OUT of that territory. So yeah, more stuff happens here…Swordsman takes like 20 years backwards character wise – buuuutttt I’m guessing it’s mind control, so thankfully that doesn’t really count, and Venom acts all nasty. Which is fine, because it’s just Venom. Although that particular symbiote used to have a decent/twisted sense of honor. No innocents and all that.Wonder where that went.

NEXTWAVE volume 2

Da na na nuh na nuh NEXTWAVE!

They stole the Batmobile and shat under the tires!
They wear your grandmother’s underpants rightside in!
NEXTWAVE!

Oh god…but seriously folks….NEXTWAVE!

Faceless ones…nameless ones…whatever…on skateboards. Oh God. I think I’m gonna be ok. I think I’m gonna be ok. I swear.

I waited for the trades to buy this one, maybe I shouldn’t have. Maybe we’d have more issues to read in the bathroom, or maybe not. Sometimes it’s good when good things end before they fall asleep at the wheel in a drunken teenage binge, and wakeup with a dead shriner impaled on the little Buick symbol and an alien baby sleeping sedated in their kidney-cum-womb.

Jack of Fables volume 1

I don’t like this one as much as Fables standard, but it’s a long time in between trades, and I want to keep my lovely wife fed on a steady diet of good comics so she doesn’t forget about them ;). I like where the story is going in the current issues, and I’m hopeful for the future too, so I’ll just consider some of the early arcs (I didn’t like the Vegas one much) a warm up.

Odds and ends:

Hulk 1: Not NEARLY as bad as I expected, considering Loeb’s horrid track record and churching out brain mulch lately (he does hold the record for stupidest Wolverine story every written – the same story is definitely in the running for stupidest Marvel ever written too). I’m curious how they’re going to explain the whole thing – especially since the Hulk’s “Hulkiness” went back through space to gift like to Baby Hulk.

Suicide Squad 5: Checkmate style politics and backstabbing. If you like that, you’ll probably like this. I think I missed the last issue so I’m mildly lost and already bored. Hey where’d that nifty fire sword go?

Countdown 16: Man. Shit is happening now. I was thinking they’d save Monarch for the Final Crisis…but lo and behold he is actually the Countdown finale! Doh, how did my blind ass miss that?? I’m liking this. Let’s see where it goes.

Onslaught Reborn 5: Seriously? This series is still going. OK. Mm, female Bucky is here now, just as Bucky-Bucky becomes Cap? Does Brubaker know crazy-Loeb&Liefeld want to make female Bucky to Bucky-Bucky’s Cap?

The Twelve 1: Comic book young guy (who looks like Beck!) told me this was good, and I didn’t believe him. It just didn’t look that interesting. Sure, JMS is good, but the prequel didn’t do much for me … anyway, the issue is quite readable with a nice twist at the end to keep you curious. 70-30 I’ll be picking this up in trades.

Nova 10: Is this series getting cancelled? It sort of looks that way. Damn, I hope not! It’s a good series, I just don’t want anything else in my pull right now (I already added the Order and the new X-books). This one is so close to hitting the pull box…so close. But still, not quite.

Wolverine 61: OK, he’s officially back to his 1982 power levels I guess, and this is what it took us to get there. OK, whatever. It wasn’t all that bad, and some reigning in did need to be done (but not do the degree it was done in the 90s with dog Wolvy and weak-smokey-coughy Wolvy) to hold off the crazy resurrection powers. But. But something I dunno the involvement of magic and god/angels just rubbed me wrong. Now he’s got fucking EVERYTHING in his origin. I mean, he’s an old guy, so I guess that’s ok. But still. If he was a City of Heroes character he’d be a mutant/tech/sci/magic origin. And maybe natural too just for kicks. Too much screams ceiling cat! Too much! It was millions of times better than Loeb’s arc though. I actually considered buying those just to try to wipe my ass with every page of every issue and mail them back to Marvel. I’m on a high fiber diet right now so I could totally do it.

But then my ass would be all red and chafe-y and scratched up, and that’s no fun.

Bloggers note: Yes, I have been just linking to other images out there on the net. That seems like the rational thing to do, no sense wasting space hosting images that are already hosted right? And they’re soooo small…. but seriously, any other bloggers know what the official etiquette is here? Should I be copying and re-hosting every image?? Making each image a click link to the hosting page (man would that be a lot of work)?
